Overton Fall Activity Guidelines (Updated 9-23-20)

Covid-19 Activity Guidelines

The following guidelines will apply to all Overton Public School Activities for the 20-21 School Year.  The purpose of these guidelines is to help create a safer competition environment for all students involved in the activity.  These guidelines are subject to change depending on the risk level for Overton Public School as determined by the administration.  

ALL ATHLETIC EVENTS

  • Temperature checks will be performed for all spectators and team members (unless checked prior to leaving home school).  Any person exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms will not be allowed admittance to the facility.  All teams and spectators will enter the facility through Door 15 (North Parking Lot Door).  

  • Facilities will open for fans 45 minutes prior to the first contest.  Fans will be asked to limit their movement within the facility once they arrive.  Fans are also asked to social distance within bleachers.  

  • Teams are required to wear masks when not in competition.  This would include between games and on the bench during the competition.  Teams will be provided their own locker room or classroom during competitions (Locker rooms will not be shared by teams).  

  • Spectators are required to wear a mask at all times within the school building.  Spectators unable to wear a mask due to health issues must provide a doctor’s note stating such accommodation.  These spectators will be required to socially distance from all fans other than immediate family members. Masks will be available for purchase if fans don’t have a mask.

  • Cheerleaders are allowed but must wear a mask at all times. 

  • NSAA Attendance Guidelines will be followed according to the risk level for Overton Public School.

  • Additional space will be created around the home and visitor bench areas along with the score table area to maintain proper social distance guidelines between the team benches/score table and fan seating. 

  • Concession stand will be available.  Concession offerings may be limited.  There will be a home and visitor line for the concession stand. 

  • Pep Bands are prohibited at Indoor Athletic Events. 

  • Fans are prohibited from entering the playing area or bench areas of either team.  Players should not enter the stands to visit or greet fans prior or after games. 

  • Fans are required to leave the facility immediately following the conclusion of the final game of the evening. 

SPORT SPECIFIC GUIDELINES

VOLLEYBALL

  • Teams will not switch bench areas between sets. 

  • Bench areas will be sanitized between matches for the next team. 

  • New Balls will be used for each match during a Triangular or Tournament.

  • Post-game handshakes are prohibited per NSAA and NFHS guidelines. 

  • Face coverings may be worn by players on the court but not required.  

  • Seating along the first row of bleachers in the South Gym is prohibited. 

  • Officials will wear masks during pregame meetings and when at the scorers table.  Line Judges are required to wear a mask. 

  • Teams are encouraged to provide their own hand sanitizer for their players. 

  • Home Fan Seating - East Side / Visitor Fan Seating - West Side (behind score table)

  • Home team will film on the West Side of the gym and the Visiting team will film on the East Side of the gym.  

  • Children must stay with parents at all times.  

FOOTBALL

  • Visiting fans will be in the South bleachers.  Home fans will be in the North bleachers.  Fans are encouraged to utilize social distancing and to wear face masks if social distancing cannot be maintained. 

  • Pep Band will perform and be seated in bleachers on the track in front of the North bleachers. 

  • Visiting Cheerleaders may be on the track on the South side in front of the visitor bleachers.  Home Cheerleaders may be on the track on the North side in front of the home bleachers. 

  • Fans are prohibited from standing on the track to watch the game.  

  • Each team is allowed One (1) coach and One (1) filmer in the Press Box.  

  • Game announcers are limited to an Announcer, Spotter, and Time Operator. 

  • Radio Crews will be set up on the Lower Level of the Press Box to help maintain social distancing. 

  • Children must stay with parents.  Children are not allowed to play on the side hill of the Press Box during games. 

  • Youth pick-up football games are not allowed.  Leave all balls and other sports equipment home. 

  • Post-game handshakes are prohibited per NSAA and NFHS guidelines.

CROSS COUNTRY

  • Teams will wear masks while in the van to practice and competitions.

  • Teams will follow social distancing guidelines when possible prior to and after practices and competitions. 

  • Coaches will wear masks at all times during practice and competitions. 

  • Fans are encouraged to follow social distancing guidelines during all aspects of competitions.

CHEER & DANCE

  • Indoor Events - Masks must be worn at all times. 

  • Outdoor Events - If Social Distancing can be maintained, masks are not required.  Masks are required when social distancing guidelines cannot be followed. 

  • Cheerleaders and Dancers should maintain social distance from fans.
