Overton Wireless Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
To access the wireless network at Overton Public School, you must install a certificate on your device which certifies that the web traffic sent to your device is safe. Below are the types of devices you may be trying to connect, and a list of steps for each that, if properly followed, will allow you onto the wireless network.
Be advised that all wireless traffic at Overton Public School is filtered and monitored. Your use of this network is subject to our Terms of Use.
These steps are not required for school-owned devices.
All non-school-owned devices must connect to the Overton Public network.
Apple iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod)
- Tap to download and install the certificate: securly_ca_2034.crt
- Select "Allow"
- Select "Install" and enter your device's passcode if applicable
- Select "Install"
- Select "Install"
- Select "Done"
- Navigate to Settings > General > About > Certificate Trust Settings
- Enable full trust for root certificates: "*.securly.com"
- Select "Continue"
Android
- Ensure that your device has a passcode enabled by navigating to Settings > Security > Screen Lock
- Tap to download and install the certificate: securly_ca_2034.crt
- Give the certificate a name and tap "OK"
- Verify that the certificate is installed by navigating to Settings > Security > Trust Credentials > User
macOS (iMac, Macbook)
- Click to download the certificate: securly_ca_2034.crt
- Click on the Spotlight Search icon in the toolbar and type "Keychain Access" - hit enter
- In the Finder, navigate to the certificate file
- Click and drag the certificate file to the "System" padlock in the Keychain Access window
- Enter the computer's administrator password
- Enter the System padlock and click on the "*.securly.com" file
- Under "Trust" select "Always Trust"
- Exit the window, and enter the administrator password
- You may delete the certificate file you downloaded
Windows PC
- Click to download the certificate: securly_ca_2034.crt
- Double-click the file to open the certificate installation wizard
- Click "Install Certificate..."
- Click "Local Machine" and then "Next"
- Enter an administrator password if required
- Check "Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate" and click "Next"
- Click "Finish"
- You may delete the certificate file you downloaded
Chrome OS
- Click to download the certificate: securly_ca_2034.pem
- Navigate to chrome://settings and click on "Advanced" at the bottom
- Under "Privacy and Security" click "Manage Certificates"
- Click "Import" under the "Your certificates" or "Authorities" tab
- Select the downloaded certificate
