Chase Christensen

Hello! My name is Mr. Christensen, and I am so excited to join the Overton Public Schools staff for the 2017-2018 school year and beyond. I get to serve the school community in several ways, but I always consider my primary role to be a teacher. I teach 5th - 12th grade band, as well as 8th grade homeroom and some elementary technology classes. In addition to these duties, I manage the school's technology infrastructure which includes the student iPads, computer labs, carts, classroom devices, and the wireless network. It is my job to help students and teachers use the school's resources to enhance their learning experiences by bringing the world into their classrooms and taking their classrooms into the world. Educating all parties about the safe and responsible use of these technologies is one of my highest priorities.

I was born, raised, and currently live in Kearney, NE. I received my Bachelor of Music degree in K-12 Instrumental/Vocal Music Education from the University of Nebraska - Kearney in 2017. While it certainly seems as though my bubble is small, experiencing the world is my favorite hobby. I have traveled and performed with various ensembles in venues such as the Superdome in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl; the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C.; the National Day parades in Sandefjord, Norway; the AT&T Stadium in Dallas for a Cowboys/Saints Game; and the Circuit of the Americas in Austin for the Formula 1 Grand Prix. I have also traveled extensively with my church for mission trips to Ft. Worth, San Diego, Memphis, Joplin, Denver, and Kansas City. I just returned from an amazing vacation to France, where I got to experience both the city of Paris and the French countryside.

My aim is to provide students with opportunities to explore the world around them, through both music and technology. I'm ready to get started! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you have.
